The pair are charged with attempting to murder Jeff King, also from Swanley, after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck at a house where he had been carrying out renovation work.

Turrell is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

They were released on conditional bail to live and sleep in Swanley and must report daily to a police station. They will also be electronically tagged from 7am to 7pm.

The couple have also been banned from entering Thanet or making contact with their alleged victim.

Mr King was taken to Kings College Hospital in London on Monday after reports of a serious assault. He has since been discharged.

He was believed to have been renovating the home in Ethelbert Gardens, Margate.

The men have known each other for 30 years, having met when they were neighbours in Elm Road, Dartford.
