Burst water main floods road near Dartford train station

Delays continue in Dartford this morning as roads remain closed after a water main burst near the train station on Monday afternoon.

Thames Water apologised for the traffic chaos yesterday, with Mill Pond Road left flooded and both Overy Street and Temple Hill still closed.

Central Road was also affected.

A spokesman for the water provider said: “We’re sorry for the disruption caused by our burst water pipe.

"We need to keep one lane of the road closed while repair work continues today, with temporary, three-way traffic lights in place.

“We’re working as hard as we can to return the road to normal as quickly as possible.”

KCC Highways was called at 3.50pm yesterday. Congestion continues in the town centre.

Several residents in the vicinity are also reporting a water shortage in their homes, with others taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.

A signed diversion is currently in place via Littlebrook Manor Way, St Vincents Road, The Brent, East Hill, Home Gardens, Hythe Street and Mill Pond Road.
