Arthur Chappell, 86, named as motorcyclist who died in crash in A20 at Farningham

An 86-year-old motorcyclist who died after coming off his bike has been identified as Arthur Chappell.

The former taxi driver from West Kingsdown was travelling along the A20 in Farningham at 8pm on June 30 when the incident took place.

Mr Chappell, a widower, was the only person involved in the crash and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A coroner’s office spokeswoman said a post mortem held at Darent Valley Hospital by Dr David Fish found that he “unexpectedly swerved” and came off his bike.

The post mortem also found that he died from “multiple injuries”.

The inquest into his death was opened on July 9 at Gravesend Old Town Hall in High Street and a hearing will take place at the same venue on November 4.
