Firefighters issue warning after rubbish fire

Firefighters are reminding residents to dispose of rubbish carefully after a fire in Swanscombe.

Crews were called to Stanley Road at 5pm to reports of a rubbish fire, which had spread to a wooden shed and garage.

By the time crews arrived neighbours were extinguishing the flames with buckets of water.

Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames and ensured the area was safe.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue advised residents not to leave rubbish lying around which could be used to start a fire by criminals.

The blaze is being treated as suspicious.
