Crews use beaters to tackle grassland fire in King Edward Avenue, Dartford

Firefighters spent several hours using beaters and flex-packs to out out a blaze on grassland.

Crews from Dartford were called out to the grassland between allotments and the railway line near King Edward Avenue in the town at about 2.20pm yesterday.

Firefighters had difficulty gaining access to the area but eventually managed to put out a fire in bushes and trees there and left the scene at about 4.15pm.

Just minutes after putting out the flames, crews were called out to put out a fire in Ash Road, Ash, near Hartley.

The fire has started on a fence and has spread to nearby trees and a portable building.

No one was injured during the incident and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

The crew left the scene at about 5.15pm
