Horses' tail chopped off at the Arrow Riding Centre in Darenth Park Avenue, Dartford

Four horses have had their tails cut off at a riding centre for disabled people.

The animals were attacked in their field at the Arrow Riding Centre in Darenth Park Avenue, Dartford.

Centre manager Val Blake said: "They're a bit traumatised because of what happened. I think they've been chased around the field; one of our horses, Hugo, his tail has been cut off and he's not very happy."

Two horse rugs were also stolen in the raid which happened between 5pm on Monday, October 6 and 8am this morning.

Val said: "The horses were out in the field over night, as they normally are, and when we came in this morning we noticed two rugs had been stolen.

"When we started bringing the horses in we saw four of them had their tails cut off. They haven't been injured but one is right at the top.

"I can't think of any reason anyone would do this whatsoever. It's just vandalism to be honest."

The charity provides horse riding and carriage driving for disabled children and adults.

Kent Police have appealed for information about the attack.
