Firefighters rushed to a Dartford house that reportedly had smoke billowing from its roof this morning – but it turned out to be just surrounded by fog.

Confused firefighters arrived at the scene in Lowfield Street at 7.20am.

Dartford was one of the areas in Kent to be covered in a thick blanket of fog this morning.

Drivers were warned to take extra care in the fog

Kent Fire and Rescue Service jokingly said they were at the scene for "about 30 seconds".

The home was checked before crews left.
