A husband accused of attempting to murder his wife and raping another woman will stand trial next month.

Michael Barnard’s wife Hamida Thompson suffered multiple knife wounds at their home in Lower Road, Hextable, on January 11 this year.

She was taken to a London hospital and treated for her injuries.

Barnard, 24, is alleged to have raped another woman at the end of last year.

He denies both charges and will go on trial at Maidstone Crown Court on July 2.

He has been remanded in custody.
