Women set to give birth under hypnosis at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford with introduction of hypnobirthing

Women will soon be able to give birth under hypnosis at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.

The hospital is launching hypnobirthing - a programme that teaches simple but specific self hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques.

Yoga balls, a CD player and docking station have also been donated by the Yoga Mummies group in memory of their instructor Caroline McLean who died in October.

Yoga balls are used as an accessory in the delivery rooms at the Darenth Wood Road hospital.

They are also well timed for the hospital's introduction of hypnobirthing, due to begin early March.

A hospital spokesman said the maternity staff were "extremely grateful" for the donation.

Women who would like to know more about hypnobirth or want to consider the opportunity, can email hypnobirthing@dvh.nhs.uk.
