Lorry on fire on M20 near Brands Hatch

The M20 has reopened after a lorry caught fire.

A statement from Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the firefighting operation was complete by 11.40pm.

Police were initially holding traffic between junction 2 for Brands Hatch and the Swanley Interchange.

Drivers were asked to find an alternative as crews had to cut away the side of the lorry to enable the rescue team to access the smouldering contents.

It happened at 8.20pm.

The entry slip at junction 2 has also been closed as result.

Traffic was being diverted to the M26 to join the M25 at J5.
