Motorcyclist killed in crash with car in Shepherds Lane, Dartford named in tributes as Eltham man Ollie Sherwood

Friends of a biker killed in a collision with a car in Dartford have set up a fundraising page in his memory.

The accident involving a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a dark coloured Vauxhall Insignia happened in Shepherds Lane, near Heather Drive, at just before 5pm yesterday.

The page has been set up for Ollie Sherwood, who is described as "a very much loved son, brother, dad and a friend to many".

Multiple tributes have also been posted on Facebook in memory of an Ollie Sherwood, from Eltham, and floral tributes have also been left at the scene, with one card reading: "RIP Ollie".

Police confirmed that a motorcyclist in his twenties from London died at the scene.

His female passenger was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out, opening shortly before 10pm.

Nearby residents said they heard a loud bang at the time of the accident and saw a "huge" police presence. One woman said she had "never seen anything like it" and added that one of her neigbours was first on the scene to try and help the man.

Among the floral tributes is a card with the message: "Sorry we couldn't save you. Everyone tried their best".

Officers from the police's serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
