Domino's Pizza left red-faced after driver caught stocking up on cheap potato wedges at Asda in Greenhithe

We all like to save a few quid here and there, but pizza chain Domino's is under fire after one of their employees was caught out stocking up on cheap potato wedges.

The photo was snapped by a shopper at Asda in Greenhithe on Sunday, where the delivery man was waiting patiently to buy multiple 1kg bags of wedges at a price of just £1 each.

Domino's loyalists have taken issue with his shopping list - they're used to stumping up £3.99 per portion, albeit with a pot of all-important dipping sauce thrown in.

A spokesman for the chain, which has stores across Kent, said: “With a big sporting weekend, very occasionally our stores are in an unfortunate position where some food items may run out.

“We do not advocate this as a solution and are investigating.

“We have rigorous standards where our franchisees buy all food from our approved suppliers to help maintain the high standards customers rightly expect.”

That wasn't good enough for many customers reacting on social media, with some even going to the extreme of threatening to take their business to Pizza Hut.
