Gravesend RNLI crews join police in River Thames hunt over fears person had jumped from QEII Bridge at Dartford

Gravesend's RNLI crew joined a search of the River Thames after fears a person had jumped from the QEII Bridge at Dartford.

They joined the coastguard after reports someone had been seen standing on the Crossing before apparently disappearing.

It led the London Coastguard to think this person might have jumped yesterday afternoon.

However, a search of the area did not find anyone.

An RNLI spokesman said: "The lifeboat started searching from Stoneness up to the QEII Bridge.

"The lifeboat was joined by the harbour launch Kew and the police helicopter. This search headed downstream from QE2 Bridge to the Thurrock area."

Essex police received a call at 3.55pm and said a thorough search was conducted, but no one was found.
