Car travelling in the wrong direction crashes into lorries on A2 slip road off M25 at Darenth

A police investigation is underway after a car reportedly travelling in the wrong direction crashed into two lorries on a slip road off the M25.

The accident happened at 10.15pm on Friday on the A2 slip off J2 of the east-bound M25.

Eye-witnesses say a hatchback vehicle was embedded between two lorries coming down the slip road.

A woman was taken to hospital as a result of the smash.

Highways England said the road was closed and emergency services were sent to the scene. It reopened just after 11pm.

This morning, (Saturday), a police spokeswoman said the accident involved a car and two HGVs and confirmed it would be investigated.

She added: "The incident occurred on the slip road coming off the M25 and onto the A2.

"The road was closed whilst the vehicles were recovered.

"A woman was taken to Darent Valley hospital."
