A second man has been arrested over an alleged £30,000 building fraud in Dartford.

The 22-year-old from Surrey is alleged to have carried out unnecessary and overpriced work at a property in Princes Road between September and December.

He was arrested on Tuesday by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and has been bailed until Friday, January 19.

The arrest follows the charge of 25-year-old James Dennard, of Darenth Wood Road, Dartford, in December for the same alleged offence.

He is due to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court next Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant Marc Cananur, of the Serious Economic Crime Unit, said: "Our officers have been working closely with Trading Standards and other partners to investigate fraud, safeguard victims, and prevent residents from falling foul to building scams.

"Please beware of anyone asking for money upfront for any service unless it is a genuine company that you have selected, and never deal with any unexpected doorstep callers offering work on your home or garden."
