Suspects escapes across Fleetdown Primary School playground in Dartford on run from police

A fugitive made his escape across a primary school's playground on the run from the police in Dartford.

A patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle in Princes Avenue but the driver fled, pursued by officers who called the police helicopter to assist.

The dark haired man, believed to be in his early 20s, jumped the fence of Fleetdown Primary School in Lunedale Road and ran across the playground as the police helicopter hovered overhead.

He did not approach any of the children, but the school sent out a letter to parents to let them know about the escape, which was witnessed by some of the pupils.

Kent Police is still hunting the man who was wearing a sweatshirt and blue jeans.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 2.15pm to reports of a suspicious vehicle in Princes Avenue, Dartford.

"It is reported the vehicle stopped and the occupant, a man, left the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the man."
