Dartford tunnel closed after technical fault

Queues at the Dartford Crossing are down to only 20 minutes after a technical fault caused traffic delays for more than seven hours.

At one stage tailbacks were stretching back to J3 of the M25.

The right-hand tunnel (the higher of the two tunnels) was closed, but reopened at around 10.20am.

However, heavy traffic was still being reported until around 5.30pm.

The situation was exacerbated by a broken down lorry on the A2 Westbound at M25 J2 (Darenth Interchange which closed a lane and added to the delays.
