Tony Burman believes FA Trophy victory over Crawley Town was well deserved

Dartford boss Tony Burman felt the 1-0 FA Trophy first round replay victory over Crawley was just desserts for his side.

The Darts had come agonisingly close to knocking the Blue Square Bet Premier title chasers at the first attempt on Saturday.

Two late goals cancelled out Dartford’s lead at the weekend but Tom Champion came off the bench on Tuesday to score the only goal and secure a place in the second round proper.

Burman (pictured) said: "On Saturday against Crawley we were 3-1 up and it should have been four but they scored two late goals and the players were deflated. They had done so well and came into the changing room disappointed.

"It wasn’t a great game to watch on Tuesday and Crawley were excellent in the first 15 minutes but we’ve turned the tables on them and got the goal in the 92nd minute.

"There was jubilation in the changing room afterwards and the players deserved it. Over the two games we just edged it and deserved to go through after our performance in the first game. We worked hard and defended well against a top team." Tuesday’s success game just weeks after the Darts took League 2 side Port Vale to a replay in the FA Cup.

"We’re breaking new barriers and which is nice and we need to be doing it consistently," said Burman.

"It was a sweet success on Tuesday because they are from a higher league and we’re knocking on the door now. I’m delighted."

George Purcell returns for the Darts but there are doubts over Danny Harris and James White.
