Closure of A2 Rochester Way Relief Road in London affecting commuters in Dartford, Gravesham and Medway

Kent commuters returning home faced the nightmare of a key route being closed because of a large pothole.

The A2 Rochester Way Relief was closed Kent-bound near Westhorne Avenue, Eltham, south London.

Transport for London, which put out a warning via Twitter, showing a picture of the long queue of traffic taken just after 6pm.

It warned that queues were going back to the Woolwich Flyover.

The road would be used by many London workers living in Dartford, Gravesham and Medway.

It eventually reopened at around 7.35pm.
