Denmark Hill train fire causing delays and cancellations to Kent services

A train to Dartford was evacuated this evening after it caught fire.

Passengers on the service from Victoria to Dartford were able to escape from the train at Denmark Hill after sparks and flames were seen coming from below one of the carriages.

Reports suggest some carriages began to fill with smoke and passengers waiting a Denmark Hill report smelling acrid fumes.

The platform at Denmark Hill was also evacuated to allow firefighters from London Fire Brigade to deal with the flames.

No one is believed to have been injured in the blaze, but commuters faced serious delays and cancellations with trains through Dartford particularly badly affected.

Southeastern said all lines are now reopen, but delays are still expected.

Firefighters and engineers are investigating the cause of the blaze.
