Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council councillor Leslie Bobby has died.

Cllr Bobby, of Lewis Road, Swanscombe, represented Galley Hill ward as a town councillor from 1999 and Swanscombe as a Dartford Borough councillor, from 2003.

He died last Wednesday (September 18).

Cllr Bobby, deputy leader of the Swanscombe and Greenhithe Residents Association, was an active member, having been chairman and vice-chairman on many of the town council’s committees.

A council spokesman said: “Cllr Bobby was very proud of his roots and worked tirelessly to ensure the town did not loss any of its history or unique identity.

"His passing will not only be a great lose to the town council but also to the community as a whole. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Brenda and the family.”

A book of condolence will be available at the Civic Centre, Dartford.

The funeral service will take place at 11.45am on October 3 at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Swanscombe Street then at 1pm at Medway Crematorium. Flowers are optional or a donation to a charity of your choice.

Mrs Bobby would like to invite anyone attending to join her and the family afterwards for refreshments at the Top House pub in Craylands Lane.
