Hatton Garden heist: Brian Reader and Paul Reader from Dartford charged with conspiracy to burgle

Eight men, including two from Kent, have appeared in court charged in connection with the multimillion pound jewellery heist at Hatton Garden.

Brian Reader, 76, and his son Paul Reader, 50, both of Dartford Road, Dartford were charged with conspiracy to burgle late last night.

They were arrested following 12 raids carried out at addresses in London and Kent on Tuesday morning.

They appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today, where they were refused bail.

The court heard more than £10 million worth of property was stolen during the heist.

The case was adjourned until June 4, when the men will return to the same court.

It emerged today that police are questioning a tenth person in connection with the raid.

The 42-year-old was arrested in Essex and remains in police custody.

The contents of 56 safe deposit boxes were taken during the raid in London's jewellery district over Easter weekend

It is believed jewellery worth up to £200m was taken

The other men charged with conspiracy to burgle are: Terry Perkins, 67, of Heene Road, Enfield, John Collins, 74, of Bletsoe Walk, Islington, Daniel Jones, 58, of Park Avenue, Enfield, Hugh Doyle, 48, of Riverside Gardens, Enfield, William Lincoln, 59, of Bethnal Green, east London and Carl Wood, 58, of Elderbeck Close, Cheshunt.
