Woman's body found in lake at Bluewater shopping centre, Greenhithe

A woman has been found dead in a lake at Bluewater.

Police, fire and ambulance vehicles were spotted at the shopping centre in Greenhithe yesterday evening after they were called to the scene.

It has since been confirmed the body of a woman has been found by a police officer.

A spokesman said the force were called at about 4.40pm yesterday following "a possible sighting of a body in a lake at Bluewater".

"Officers attended and the body of a woman in her 50s was located," he said.

"She was declared deceased at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will now be prepared for the coroner."

Officers blocked off a road amid "concern for a person's welfare".

Four ambulance vehicles were at the scene, with three parked at the bus station.

At least one more was spotted along the section of road that has been closed off, alongside a number of police vehicles.

A single fire engine is also in attendance.

A police spokesman said yesterday officers were called after "concerns were raised for a person’s welfare".
