Tony Burman will bide time over new signings for Dartford

Dartford boss Tony Burman is in talks with five transfer targets but he will not rush his attempts to bring new players to the club.

Eight members of last season’s squad have signed new deals at Princes Park, with only three so far rejecting contract offers.

Burman has spoken with prospective new signings on the phone and several have met him at the Darts’ home ground.

“I’ve spoken to five players at this moment in time and I’m waiting on answers,” he said.

“We’ve spoken to players, we’ve invited them up to the ground and I’ve met them. It’s a waiting game. We’re going to be patient, we’re not going to rush.

“There’s a lot of quality out there. Some players are not going to become available until pre-season, until clubs start to adjust their squads.”

As it stands, defenders Mark Arber and Richard Rose are the only members of last season’s squad still deliberating over their futures.

“The pair have had offers from us,” Burman said. “At this moment in time, I’ve not heard anything from them but I’m not rushing it. I want to give them enough time, they both live a long way away so they’ve got to make sure it’s right for them."
