All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

If you are looking for a fun afternoon out this weekend, why not pop down to the track on Sunday for the Annual Retired Greyhound Show?

The show starts at 1.30pm, with entry just £2 and you will have the chance to meet many of our ex-racers who will be hoping to win rosettes in the judging ring.

In addition, there will be stalls covering greyhound supplies, tombolas, jewellery, bric-a-brac, photography, ask the vet and many more.

There will also be a special race for children when they will get the chance to “chase the bunny” – one of our track staff in a full-size bunny suit.

All proceeds go to our retired greyhound homefinding scheme.

Newcomer Rizzoli Anna ran a decent debut to finish second and I expect her to do better.
She started her career here in bottom grade A8.

Given this was the first time she has raced against five other dogs, she did well after missing her break. To have improved from fifth to second over 380m is a good effort and given a better start she should win.

I have been following youngster Liss Von, who joined trainer Patsy Cusack’s kennels in April. The dog has finished in the first three in no less than six races here and got her first win on July 9 in grade A4.

Her first five runs were in a grade higher at A3, which seemed too tough but this time she may figure better. Interestingly, here she has never been a bigger price than 5-2 – a sign of respect from the bookmakers.

Frontiers is a dog I had an interest in at the Irish Greyhound sale in February. After an indifferent start in the first six weeks, he is showing his true capabilities.

Five wins so far and he is now on a hat-trick after winning at both S4 and S3 in his last two runs over 540m.
