Dartford FC boss Tony Burman said points on the board was most important after the 4-1 win against Bath City

Dartford turned in one of their best performances of the season on Saturday but the result pleased manager Tony Burman more than anything.

Their 4-1 win over Bath City lifted the Darts to fourth in National League South and extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches - a run stretching back three months.

During that time, Dartford have taken 25 of a possible 33 points and climbed 10 league positions.

They played some excellent football at times against Bath at Princes Park.

Burman said: "We put on a decent performance and the main thing for us was to get some more points on the board. At this stage, that’s what counts and I’m pleased that we’ve done that.

"I think we’ve played as well (in other games) but sometimes the chances haven’t gone in. They’ve gone in today and I think we thoroughly deserved the victory.

"We said before the game it wass very important to continue with the things that have kept us on our run, good habits, during the game.

"One of the games we played here recently, we were 2-0 up (against Havant & Waterlooville) but within 10 minutes we went sloppy and conceded two.

"I felt overall we managed the game really well in the second half. I’m disappointed that we conceded a goal - that’s the only blemish.

"I think we played really well but the main thing is to get three points."

Burman wanted his players to show more imagination after coming from behind to draw with Margate and Chelmsford in their last two home games - and his wish was granted.

He said: "The balls from free-kicks and set-pieces were put into good areas and I felt we tried to open them up.

"They had three men at the back, five men sometimes, Bath, but we opened them up. We’ve got to have the desire to do that and I think we showed a little bit of it today.

"We were 2-0 up, we don’t want to concede a goal and the third goal’s important.

"I know we’ve conceded a goal, which I am disappointed about because it’s nice to have a clean sheet. It builds confidence.

"But the guys have still come back after conceding the goal, they’ve gone up and scored another one and I’m pleased for them."
