Full-back Tom Bender has been released by Dartford.

The 21-year-old made 16 appearances for the club but manager Tony Burman, speaking after Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to Kidderminster, confirmed Bender was on his way out of Princes Park.

Burman said: "Tom’s contract was up.

"He had a short-term contract with us, which was up today, and I haven’t renewed that contract.

"Tom has left us and I wish him well. He did what he could for us, at a time when it was tough for us, but if someone comes in it might mean that someone has to go out. It’s not definite (that I have to let players go) - I’ve got some money to play with.

"All I can say about Tom is thanks - I appreciate the help he gave us and wish him well for the future."

Bender, who had a loan spell at Welling last season, made his Darts debut as a substitute away to Nuneaton on September 27.

He started their next 15 games but wasn't included in the squad to face Kidderminster.

Callum Driver took his place at left-back and new signing Nathan Green, who can also play in that position, started on the left wing.
