Fixtures like Saturday’s trip to Wrexham are the reason Tony Burman is so desperate to keep Dartford in the Skrill Premier.

The Welsh club epitomise the strength of English football’s fifth division, which the Darts worked so hard to reach.

And with 16 games left to save themselves from relegation, Dartford don’t want to lose such prestigious games from their fixture calendar.

Burman said: "It’s a difficult place to go but it’s another team, another club, we visited for the first time last season and we’re looking forward to going there again.

"It’s why we want to stay in this league. There’s possibly going to be 4,500 fans there, in a big stadium, so it’s a good day out for us.

"It’s where we want to be. We’re having a taste of it now and that’s why it’s good to be involved in these games.

"You only have to look back two years and we weren’t anywhere near this sort of stuff."

Long-term injury victims Jason Prior and Ryan Hayes are the only players expected to miss the trip to north Wales.
