Welling manager Jamie Coyle backs Dartford to take National League South title

Welling boss Jamie Coyle has tipped Dartford to win the National League South title.

The Darts did the double over Coyle’s Wings during the festive period, winning 3-2 at Park View Road on Boxing Day before brushing them aside 4-1 at Princes Park on New Year’s Day.

Darts lead the way by two points at the top of the table and Coyle expects Tony Burman’s men to maintain their place.

“I think they’ll win the league,” said Coyle. “That’s the blueprint of winning this league, what we saw on New Year’s Day and Boxing Day.

“I hope they do go on and win the league now. It’s not always about the best footballing team, it’s about the team that makes the best decisions at the right times and Dartford do that.”

Coyle also praised Dartford’s clinical finishing and wants his team to learn from their rivals after witnessing their quality first hand.

“They’ve got Andy Pugh who had two chances and scored, Alfie Pavey had two chances and scored two goals,” added Coyle.

“The difference was they defended better in their box and were clinical in ours. That summarises the 95 minutes up.

“We had some fantastic opportunities and got into some great positions in their 18-yard box but our final ball let us down.

“Credit to Dartford and the way they play. They minimise mistakes at the back and get it forward as quickly as they can.”
