Dartford's Duane Ofori-Acheampong could miss start of National League South season

Duane Ofori-Acheampong is ‘touch and go’ for the start of the season, admits Dartford boss Tony Burman.

While the striker is feeling fit, following a knee injury last season, the club are following doctors’ orders.

“He is recovering well and needs to rest,” Burman said.

“It’s touch and go for the start of the season and if we have to give him a few more weeks after that, then so be it. We are in the hands of the consultants.

"In all fairness to Duane, he has worked his socks off and feels fine but we have to be careful.”

Alex Brown, meanwhile, is nearing fitness after picking up an infection on a knee injury sustained at work.

Keaton Wood is getting closer to fitness following a foot injury while on England C duty.

“He is fit and it’s just about getting that contact,” said Burman. “I expect the first contact will hurt but as long as nothing gets broken, then everything will be OK.”
