Andy Pugh has revealed that former Dartford players Tom Bonner and Tom Champion played a big part in his extended loan move from Cambridge United.

The striker this week agreed to spend another two months with the Darts, having played four games and scored twice during his initial month at Princes Park.

And he said that Bonner and Champion – who both left Dartford to sign for the U’s last summer – convinced him the move was right when manager Tony Burman first came calling.

He said: "The two lads Cambridge signed, Tom Bonner and Tom Champion, gave me an insight of what it’s like at Dartford.

"They moved on to Cambridge to try the full-time side of things but they couldn’t speak highly enough about the club.

"And I’ve only got a good feeling from the club in the short time I’ve been there. I’m enjoying playing games and if I can help a local side stay up, all the better."

Pugh could make his home debut against Woking on Tuesday night.
