Charlie Hemphrey plays his final home game for Hartley Country Club this weekend before flying back to Australia to start pre-season with the Queensland Bulls.

The 25-year-old grew up in Kent but now lives in Brisbane and made his First Class debut in the Sheffield Shield earlier this year.

Hemphrey has played six innings for Hartley this summer, scoring 249 runs at an average of 49.33 but his short stay in the UK is now almost at an end.

Saturday’s home game against Bexley is followed by a trip to Kent League champions Sevenoaks Vine – and then it will be time for Hemphrey to leave Hartley and return Down Under.

He said: "It’s a brilliant club, well-run by Andy Tutt the captain and there are guys like David Thompson and James Thompson who make it enjoyable.

"They’ve got the best Kent League player there’s ever been in James Hockley and people like Dan Stickels.

"No matter what people say about Hartley, I can just turn up there and have a lot of fun.

"I’d like to have played for them for a bit longer but I’ve got to go back."
