Dartford defender Callum McNaughton ruled out for six weeks after an X-ray revealed he has metatarsal damage

Dartford defender Callum McNaughton may not play again this season.

The 24-year-old injured himself during the 2-1 defeat at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday and was substituted at half-time.

An X-ray subsequently revealed McNaughton has fractured a metatarsal bone in his foot.

He's now in a plaster cast and the club expect him to be sidelined for six weeks.

McNaughton, who joined Dartford last summer, has formed a good centre-half partnership with academy graduate Ronnie Vint - who started the season at right-back.

Tom Gardiner could move back inside from full-back to cover McNaughton's absence, while Tom Wynter and Elliot Bradbrook are also capable of playing in central defence.

Darts boss Tony Burman said: "This is a blow to the squad.

"Callum has been a starting player for almost all games this season.

"It now puts pressure on the squad to pull together in his absence."

Dartford's next game is the Kent Senior Cup semi-final against Greenwich Borough at Princes Park on Tuesday night.
