Dartford have signed former Ebbsfleet United captain Paul Lorraine.

The centre-back left the Fleet in May after four seasons at Stonebridge Road because his work commitments wouldn't allow him to train three mornings a week with them next season.

He almost joined the Darts last summer, before accepting a new deal at Ebbsfleet when the club was saved from financial ruin by KEH Sports.

Lorraine, who was promoted and relegated during an eventful time with the Fleet, was on the losing side in last season's Conference South play-off final - his final game for the club.

He now returns to Dartford for a second time, having played 16 times during a loan spell in 2002/03, when the Darts were a Southern League club.

Manager Tony Burman said: "I am delighted to welcome Paul back to the club. He is an experienced central defender and I look forward to working with him."

Lorraine is not the first player to move between the north Kent rivals this summer.

Kenny Clark, who played for Dartford last season, joined Ebbsfleet at the end of May.
