Dartford FC looking to avenge their FA Trophy defeat to Whitehawk when they clash in National League South

Dartford want revenge for their FA Trophy defeat to Whitehawk when the sides clash in National League South on Saturday.

It’s less than three weeks since the Hawks won 2-1 at Princes Park, knocking Tony Burman’s side out of the Trophy at the first-round stage.

But the Darts head to Brighton as the division’s form team, unbeaten in six matches and having won four of their last five.

Burman said: "People probably don’t expect us to get anything from Whitehawk but we’d like to repay the defeat we suffered in the Trophy. We were a bit unfortunate to lose that game.

"They like to go forward at all costs and sometimes you can exploit that. It can be a good way of playing, to score lots of goals but they’ve also conceded some from winning positions.

"Our six games without defeat have been spread over two months. We’ve played OK in those games but it’s nothing to get too excited about.

"We’re getting results at the moment and we’d like to continue that throughout December."

Whitehawk were in action last night (Wednesday), their FA Cup second round replay against League 2 Dagenham & Redbridge having been moved for live TV coverage.

So could this be a good time for Burman to take his team to the Enclosed Ground?

He said: "It might be. They will have had three tough games – Maidstone last week, Dover in the Trophy and then Dagenham. It’s a fantastic achievement, what they’ve done.

"We’ve had a couple of decent results and it’s given people around the club a lift at a nice time of year.

"Winning the two games before this one is obviously a plus for us."
