Tom Champion doesn’t know what sort of reaction he’ll get on his return to Princes Park this weekend – and that’s just from his old Dartford team-mates.

The midfielder, who left the Darts to join Cambridge United in the summer, has made a real name for himself with the Skrill Premier title chasers.

By contrast, Dartford have struggled in Champion’s absence and they go into Saturday’s game firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.

And now the 27-year-old is about to do battle with some of his good friends.

Champion said: "I’m looking forward to it, to seeing familiar faces. It will be weird, though, playing against mates.

"I haven’t wanted to speak to them too much because I feel like they’ll tell me to get lost. I don’t want to be the guy who rings them up just because we’re doing well and they’re not doing so well.

"I’m surprised (they’ve struggled). When I left the club, I knew I was leaving a good club behind and didn’t expect them to struggle as much as they have been doing."
