Dartford boss Tony Burman is hoping to bring out the best in striker Adam Birchall.

The Gillingham forward completed a loan move to Princes Park on Tuesday in a deal that runs until January 2.

Birchall spent a season on the sidelines at Gillingham through injury and another year making a tentative return.

Burman now believes the 28-year-old is ready to reignite.

He said: “He has had a torrid time in respect of his injury and when he came to us before on loan (last season), he was beginning to look sharp.

“A couple of injuries for Gillingham meant he had to return but another month here would have done him the world of good.

“He wants to play and get back to enjoying his football and being involved.

“I would love to help him get back on track. He can get regular games here and it’s worked well between the two clubs before. It helps both parties.

“I would love to see Adam back to the top of his game and if he can do that during the time spent with us, he will show what a player he is.”
