Manager Tony Burman has admitted that relegation-threatened Dartford may become a "yo-yo club" over the next few years.

Darts, who were reprieved from relegation in the summer, are eight points from safety in the Vanarama Conference having lost nine of their last 10 league games.

In an extract from an exclusive interview marking 10 years as Dartford boss, Burman offered a frank assessment of what the immediate future may hold for the club.

He said: "Last season was not what we wanted but if we’re going to be a community club and grow and keep the foundations going the way that we want them to progress, we may be a little bit of a yo-yo club.

"Hopefully not, it’s not what I want to see, I want us to stay in the Conference Premier and if it means us having a battle against relegation each, so be it.

"But we need to realise where we are, where we’ve come to and how we’ve got here. We mustn’t forget the roots of how we have got here.

"One of the reasons is that we’re self-funding. We keep within our financial budgets, which help along the way and keep the club running the way it is at the moment."
