Election candidate pledges to vote NO to Dartford tolls
Comments |
A parliamentary candidate has pledged to
always vote "no" to tolls at the Dartford Crossing if
elected.
Gareth Johnson says he will
always vote to scrap charges, when given the
chance, if he replaces Dr Howard Stoate as Dartford's
MP.
And the Conservative
candidate is urging the rest of the
borough's election hopefuls to promise the same.
"The tolls are Dartford’s
biggest curse," he said. "They cause congestion, pollution and
misery for all local residents.
"People want to be confident
that if there is a vote in Parliament on the future of the tolls
the MP for Dartford will vote to scrap them.
"That’s why I am issuing this
pledge today never to vote to keep the tolls on the Dartford
Crossing. I would only vote to scrap them."
