Chatham man bailed after drivers seriously injured in M25 pile-up at Dartford Crossing

A Chatham man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by
dangerous driving after a crash on the M25 has been released on
bail.
The 35-year-old was held after four people were injured in a
pile-up near the Dartford Crossing at just after 7am yesterday.
Essex Police said he has now been bailed pending further
inquiries until Sunday, February 17.
The anti-clockwise carriageway at J31 was shut for more than
five hours and both Dartford tunnels were closed - sparking traffic
chaos for motorists.
An HGV and three cars - a Mercedes, a Ford S-Max and a
BMW - were involved in the crash.
Two women and two men were taken to hospital after being
injured - two of them seriously.
Congestion stretched back to as far as J4 for Orpington and
was also affecting traffic on the A2 and in Dartford while
emergency services were at the scene.
The road was closed until about 12.30pm while a police
investigation was carried out and the damaged vehicles were
removed.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the crash is
asked to phone PC Joe Gasparini at Essex Police on 101.
