Giggles Nursery Has recieved a good Ofsted
A nursery has been praised by Ofsted, and things can only get better with more improvements on the horizon.
Giggles Day Nursery in Essex Road, Dartford, was inspected recently by Ofsted and recognised for its quality of teaching and wide range of activities for children.
In her report, inspector Sarah Morfett rated the nursery as good, but said it was not yet outstanding because “constant background music played in the baby room distracts children from fully concentrating on what they are doing”.
She added: “The way meal times are organised means that the older children have limited opportunities to gain independence to serve their own food and learn about portion size.”
Linda Ford, who owns and runs the nursery with her daughter, said: “We’re pleased with our Ofsted and are doing well.
“We will try to create more opportunities for the children to serve themselves, but the music is not an issue.
“It is not played all day at all. We put it on when the children ask for it, if they want a little dance.
“Then we play soothing music when they go down for a nap.
“The inspector wasn’t here for the entire day, so when she says we played music all day, I don’t know how she’s come to that conclusion.”
The nursery was also praised for having good communication with parents and continually working towards improvements.
An extension to improve the back garden is under way, with completion expected next year.
