Former Darts goalkeeper Tony Kessell to link up with the club for pre-season training

by Luke Cawdell
Dartford begin their pre-season
training on Thursday and there will be a familiar face among the
newcomers.
Manager Tony Burman will introduce his four new signings to last
season’s squad and former keeper Tony Kessell (pictured) will be
among those hoping to impress.
Kessell, who has made close to 150
appearances for the Darts, left in October to join Thamesmead after
losing his place in the side to Andy Young.
Burman was reluctant to let the
keeper go last season and will be keen to see what he has to
offer.
"He’s come back with a view to
staying," said the Darts boss. "It’s not far for him to travel and
he’s come to have a go and to be part of the squad. He’ll be
fighting for a place along with Andy Young and Derren Ibrahim."
Burman will also be keeping a close
eye on the under-21 players who will be training alongside the
first team.
The Darts open their pre-season
campaign next Saturday (July 11) with a home game against League 1
side Norwich City and ticket sales are going well, with over 1,500
already sold.
