Dartford's Damian Sharman secured a silver medal in the European
water ski championships in Surrey at the weekend.
Sharman is ranked second in Europe and fourth in the world in
the jump discipline of the sport and formed part of the GB team in
the competition at Thorpe.
More than 150 of the best water skiers in Europe, from 30
countries, battled for team and individual glory in the disciplines
of slalom, trick and jump skiing.
Sharman jumped 65m exactly in the preliminary round, the
furthest of the 28 competitors.
He improved to 66.2m in the final but missed out when
fellow-Brit Jason Seels launched a jump of 68.1m.
Sharman’s 962 points also helped Great Britain to a third place
finish in the 20-strong team competition behind Belarus and winners
France.
