Sheffield Wednesday 2 Charlton Athletic 0

Chris Powell left Hillsborough a frustrated manager on Saturday
after watching Charlton lose 2-0 to struggling Championship side
Sheffield Wednesday.
Despite making a bright start, the Addicks fell behind to a
volleyed effort from Rhys McCabe in the 20th and their fate was
sealed when Manchester City loan player Jeremy Helan made it 2-0 in
the fourth minute of injury time with a strike from close
range.
Powell was forced to watch the second half from the directors'
box after being sent off at half-time
Charlton were convinced they should have had a penalty when Yann
Kermorgant tangled with Anthony Gardner in the 37th minute, and
Powell's protests saw him red-carded by referee Gary Sutton.
The Addicks boss said after the game: "There were a number of
incidents that angered me during the first half and I went to the
referee at half-time and asked him about a penalty we didn't get.
There was a goal ruled out for offside which was actually onside
and there were also a number of fouls on my players.
"I was asking for consistency and fairness but I didn't swear at
the referee or point at him."
To make matters worse for Charlton, there was a second-half
booking for Lawrie Wilson which took him to five yellow cards
for the season, ruling him out of the Boxing Day game against
Ipswich at The Valley.
