Wealdstone 1 Dartford 0

Lee Burns

Dartford suffered an FA Trophy exit on Tuesday night after slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Ryman League Premier Division side Wealdstone.

Lee Chappell’s 27th-minute winner decided the third round replay at Ruislip with Essex referee Robert Whitton brandishing three red cards in the space of 10 second half minutes, dismissing home pair Chris O’Leary and Connor Smith and Darts midfielder James Rogers.

Chappell hit the winner after tucking away a Richard Jolly cross, leaving the Darts chasing the game.

Tom Bonner had a header cleared off the line, while Lee Burns (pictured) had an excellent chance to level the score with five minutes to go, but the Darts’ forward screwed his effort wide when through on goal.

Dartford now face the prospect of two games in quick succession, with home games against Salisbury on Saturday and Basingstoke on Monday night.
