Blue Square Bet South promotion more important than FA Trophy success, says Dartford boss Tony Burman

Lee Burns

Dartford boss Tony Burman makes no apologies for admitting success in the FA Trophy takes second place to winning promotion.

The Darts entertain Boston at Princes Park on Saturday and Burman says he doesn’t want one competition complicating their chances in the other.

He said: "It is secondary to the league but at the same time we want to stay in the competition for as long as we can.

"We had a good run in the FA Cup last season but three of the ties went to replays and we had only played about 15 league games by the turn of the year."

Striker Lee Burns (pictured) missed the 4-1 win at Havant last week, continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him recently.

However Burman is confident that, with another week’s training, Burns will be ready to return.
