Charlton Athletic 1 Birmingham City 1

Yann Kermorgant

Charlton were denied by an injury-time equaliser at home to Birmingham on Saturday.

The Addicks looked set for victory when Yann Kemorgant (pictured) headed home Chris Solly’s cross on 88 minutes but Charlton couldn’t hold on with Wade Elliott turning home Chris Burke’s cross to secure a 1-1 draw.

Athletic were the better team with Ricardo Fuller and Scott Wagstaff among the players denied by in-form City keeper Jack Butland.

Addicks boss Chris Powell, whose side are 15th in the Championship, said: “It is a shame because the boys performed well in conditions that were tough and we came up against a keeper in imperious form.

“We got the breakthrough which everyone craved and so late in the game. You are looking to see it out in a strong way but it hasn’t happened and it’s a disappointment.”
