Charlton Athletic 2 Blackpool 1

Scott Wagstaff

Charlton won a Saturday home game for the first time this season and completed the double over managerless Blackpool with a 2-1 victory at The Valley.

Addicks boss Chris Powell, whose side are 14th in the Championship, said: "It’s great for everyone and it’s been a long time coming.

"I’m pleased for our fans because the majority of them come to The Valley and want to see their team do well and set up their week."

Skipper Johnnie Jackson put Charlton in front on 23 minutes and Scott Wagstaff, pictured, extended the lead in first-half injury-time after Pool keeper Matt Gilks had parried Yann Kermorgant’s header.

Former Charlton loanee Nathan Eccleston pulled a goal back at the death for a Blackpool side who lost manager Michael Appleton to Blackburn Rovers a day before the game.
