Watford 3 Charlton Athletic 4

Johnnie Jackson

Skipper Johnnie Jackson scored a late winner as Charlton edged a seven-goal thriller at Watford on New Year's Day.

Twice the Addicks fought back from a goal down to win 4-3 against the in-form side in the Championship.

Gianfranco Zola's Hornets took the lead through Daniel Pudil on 11 minutes.

Charlton levelled on 34 minutes after a corner from Jackson, pictured, led to a Tommie Hoban own-goal and they went in front when Bradley Pritchard's cross was finished by Yann Kermorgant on 37.

Almen Abdi made it 2-2 from the penalty spot eight minutes into the second half after Dorian Dervite fouled Fernando Forestieri, then Alexandre Geijo put Watford back in front on 68.

The hosts' lead was short-lived with Ricardo Fuller setting up a second goal for Kermorgant two minutes later.

Charlton completed the comeback on 78 minutes when Dale Stephens' corner was headed in by Jackson.
