Dartford manager Tony Burman keen to strengthen his squad in transfer window

Dartford manager Tony Burman is eager to do business in the January transfer window with his side on the brink of the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.

Victory at Alfreton this Saturday could lift the Darts back into the top five but Burman (pictured) knows his squad needs bolstering to sustain a long-term challenge.

Four more wins should be enough to book another season in the top flight of non-league football and allow Dartford to dream of even giddier heights.

Burman said: "We still need 50 points. We’re 12 points away and a lot closer than a lot of other clubs. I can’t see us not getting 12 points but you can’t take anything for granted.

"We’ve been on the back of four defeats and we’ve stopped that rot now. We’ve done ever so well but if want to achieve, then we’ve got to improve the squad in depth

"Our bench is not as strong as I want it to be. We’ve got tough games coming up and when you’re having three games a week, that’s when it hurts a small squad."
